Pompons can be used to liven up almost anything!
You will need:
- Something circular to draw round, e.g. spice jar, small glass
- Stiff card
- Oddments of yarn
- Large darling needle
Steps to follow:
Step # 1
Draw around your circular object onto the stiff card. The circle will define the final size of the pompon. Cut out 2 identical circles, and then cut a slightly smaller circle out of the center of each so that you are left with two rings. Place them on the top of each other. Wind a length of yarn into a ball, small enough to go through the hole in the middle. Start winding the yarn around the 2 ring. Threading it through the middle. Keep winding until the hole has been completely filled.
Step # 2
Carefully push one blade of the scissors between the two pieces of the card and cut the yarn all the way around the outer edge of the ring.
Step # 3
Once this is done, carefully separate the two cards; tie some yarn tightly around the middle of the pompon and knot. Remove the card.
Step # 4
To decorate the hat, cut 6 rings of card 4cm (1 ½ in) in diameter. Following the instructions above, make 5 pompons in one color. Sew each pompon onto the end of each glove.
